Day 1—PARIS, NORMANDY

This morning begins your drive into history - destination Normandy. First stop - Monets Garden and museum in an unforgettable setting. Continue via the great Fortress Castle of Richard the Lion-Hearted overlooking the River Seine, then to the pastoral elegance of the Normandy countryside, arriving at your hotel, a noble house surrounded by 15 acres of elegant grounds.

Day 2—NORMANDY

The inspiration and sad beauty of the invasion beaches awaits you on your second day. From Omaha Beach to the Pointe du Hoc, the epic events of June 6, 1944 will leave an everlasting and enduring impression on you. Nearby is Bayeux with its famous tapestries depicting the Norman Conquest of England in 1066.

Day 3—BRITTANY

Strike out this morning for Brittany and the Marvel of France, Mont St. Michel. Now over 1000 years old, the spectacular 12th-century soaring Abbey is perched on a stupendous rock rising straight out of the sea. Then its along the cost to the opulent and unique Bricourt.

Day 4—BRITTANY

Weave your way through the rustic splendors of this rural countryside down to the rugged south coast of Brittany. The Breton countryside is essentially a region of delightful unspoiled medieval towns and it is these, more than anything else, that give to the province its individuality and distinctive charm.

Day 5—THE CHATEAUX COUNTRY

Your adventure continues today along the Atlantic coast, but soon the landscape begins to soften as you approach the gentle Loire River and the beginnings of the fabled Chateaux Country Your hotel tonight has a history as a manor house that goes back to the 15th century but today is one of the great resting places here in the western Loire.

Day 6—THE CHATEAUX COUNTRY

Arise early and chart your castle tour as the day unfolds along the Loire to the great fortress Chateau of Angres. On to Chinon, and its reminders of Joan of Arc, Fontrevraud, where you will find the tombs of Richard the Lion-Hearted and his mother, Eleanor of Aquitaine, and then to Villandry with its world renowned gardens.

Day 7—THE CHATEAUX COUNTRY

Full day to explore the great chateaux of the eastern Loire district. Varying in style from the strongly fortified castles of the 13th and 14th centuries to the delicately constructed Renaissance buildings of the 16th and 17th centuries, these chateaux are closely linked with the history of the kings and queens of France.

Day 8—PARIS

Leave the Chateaux Country this morning via the magnificent Gothic Cathedral of Chartes and soon youre back in Paris where the adventure of enlightenment and discovery now becomes a treasured memory.
